What defines a research-based instructional program?
The key characteristics of research-based programs are common across all fields, including education. In developing such programs, researchers gather information about important questions; use objective methods that involve reliable and valid observations and measurements; and meet rigorous standards of peer review. Programs such as Read 180, Advancement Via Individual Determination, Life Skills Training, Lions-Quest Skills for Adolescence, and Project Adolescent Learning Experiences in Resistance Training, provide instructional practices that are based on scientific evidence bringing the best teaching approaches and programs to the field.
Select a research-based instructional program. You may choose one of the programs listed above or identify another program you may be familiar with.
Write a 1,750- to 2,100-word paper, examining the research-based instructional program, and assessing its merits as they relate to learner achievement. Discuss the following:
